Star says she's sober but can't remember for how long

Lindsay Lohan is one step away from being basically a free woman, after several years of bad luck and legal troubles. To mark such a momentous event, she'll be hosting SNL this Saturday and, to promote the gig, she also sat down for an interview with Matt Lauer.

Excerpts from it were made available online yesterday and, now, we also have video, even though it's just a preview for the actual thing.

Check it out below, embedded at the end of the article.

As you can see, Lindsay claims she's sober now, though she can hardly contain her giggles when she does that.

Another thing that one can't but notice is that she doesn't remember for how long she's been sober, saying only that “it's been quite a long time.”

Also in the same interview, Lauer asks Lindsay whether Whitney Houston's death, believed to have been brought on by an accidental OD on prescription meds, resonated in any way with her on a personal level.

Lauer isn't quite the master of subtlety when he asks her that, but Lindsay doesn't want to be drawn into this conversation.

“I don’t want to go there. That’s kind of a morbid, scary thing to discuss,” she says.

As we also reported the other day, the interview will also touch on topics like her wild partying days, her attempt at making a comeback by proving to the world that she's changed, and how she needed that “one wakeup call” to realize she had to ask for help.

Lindsay say this weekend's Saturday Night Live gig will show everybody, and especially industry people, that she can be a pro about her work and that the days when she wasn't are now all in the past.

This video preview has already generated heated debates online among celebrity bloggers, many of whom are still not convinced that Lindsay is sober and / or ready to go back to work and be a pro.

Check it out and let us know if you feel the same way.
