Lindsay Lohan sits down with Jay Leno, talks about prison sentence and career plans

Though she’s been sentenced to 120 days in jail just this Friday and there’s still an ongoing case against her for theft, Lindsay Lohan insists she’s on the right path. In a pre-taped interview with Jay Leno, that aired last night, the star talks about her legal troubles and how she’s making it right again.

In the few interviews Lindsay gave this year, she’s been very vocal about setting a new goal for herself: to earn people’s respect back and to grab headlines again for her work, and not for her personal life.

On Jay Leno, Lindsay said the same: she made a lot of mistakes in her life, but she’s learned her lesson and is now trying to make amends and, at the same time, to clear her name in the process.

TMZ has video of part of the interview. Another snipped is embedded below, at the end of the article.

As fans must know, Lindsay will star next in “Gotti: Three Generations,” as Kim Gotti. The actress tells Leno she actually met John Gotti when she was just 3 and that she’s already doing some research on her character.

For the time being, though, she’s focusing solely on getting her personal life back in order. And the first step towards that is to own up to past mistakes.

“I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have and it’s all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you,” Lindsay says.

“But I’m not a kid anymore – I’m 24, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognize that. I’m in the clear now, and as long as I stay focused, I can achieve what I want to achieve,” she adds.

And what she wants to achieve is for people to know her as an actress and not a tabloid figure, Lindsay underlines.
