Whatever idea you have of Lindsay Lohan and her personal life from media coverage, she doesn’t like being in the spotlight all the time and no, she does not thrive on attention. If anything, she says in a new interview with the BBC, she’s planning to move to London on a permanent basis because she believes that, here, she will be allowed to be an actress.

Lindsay hates being a celebrity and she’s sick and tired of being treated only like one back in the US. Some time ago, she moved from the paparazzi-infested Los Angeles to New York for the same reason, but it seems that it’s no longer enough.

Itching to go back to work and to make her comeback that will shut haters up for good, she is now rehearsing for a West End play, so she’s been in London for a few months now. The experience has shown her that even she can lead a “normal” life and, perhaps more importantly, that she could live somewhere where she would not be a celebrity but an actress.

“I think I am making the move to come over here…I’ve noticed when I’m watching the news here and such, you guys have such a different outlook. In the U.S., starting at 5 p.m., it’s TMZ and all of these shows that are just talking about people’s personal lives that are in the industry. Here, I don’t notice any of that. It’s more news and politics and music,” Lindsay says.

In the US, before she gets any coverage for her work, she gets daily coverage for everything else she does. That’s true but equally true is that, save for the OWN docuseries Lindsay, Lohan hasn’t done anything remotely decent in years.

However, she insists, she’s tired of being a celebrity.

“People have certain perceptions of me. For a long time, people looked at me as kind of a celebrity, which is something I never wanted… That’s not what I got into this industry for. I’ve been doing this since I was 3 years old and I’ve been on set since I was 6. People kind of forgot that, and I think now is a good time,” Lohan says.

Doing a play in London later this year (David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow, with Lohan playing a role that Madonna originally did) is just the means to prove to the world again that she’s serious about this comeback – more serious than she’s ever been.

Lohan even promises that she will not be missing any rehearsals or performances, and this kind of unprofessional behavior on her part is absolutely in the past and will never resurface again. Just like in that story of the little boy who cried “wolf” until no one believed him anymore, Lindsay swears she’s “committed” to the work and determined to do a great job.

Where she’s concerned, it’s always a “only time will tell”-type of situation.
