14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Samsung Electronics has announced the availability of a new version of its Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet PC in the United States, all dressed up in Red.
The new Garnet Red Edition of the device will be available for purchase for a limited period of time, starting with this week, via select retailers in the country.
The slate arrives on shelves with Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, and will feature a price tag of $219.99 (€164), with a matching Garnet Red case ($50 value) included in the package at no additional cost.
According to Samsung, the new flavor of the device should prove a great option for all those looking to offer it as a gift for the upcoming Valentine’s Day, or with another occasion.
“This new eye-catching version of the Galaxy Tab 2 offers endless entertainment in the palm of your hand, while the stylish Garnet Red look will set you apart from the crowd,” said Michael Abary, senior vice president, Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
“The Garnet Red version of the Galaxy S III has been incredibly well-received, so we are happy to make the same brilliant color available for our Galaxy Tab 2 as well.”
The tablet PC arrives on shelves with a dual-core processor packed inside, as well as with a 7-inch TFT screen on the front, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.
The Galaxy Tab 2 comes with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, USB 2.0 port, and integrated IR, all inside a device that measures 0.41” x 4.8” x 7.6” and weighs 0.76 lbs.
“The new Garnet Red Edition Galaxy Tab 2 will be available while supplies last, from Walmart, Amazon.com, Office Depot, Fry’s, Tiger Direct, Toys“R”Us and other fine retailers,” Samsung announced.
The new version of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is being offered along with the already available Galaxy Tab 2 in classic black and white versions, in both 10.1 and 7.0-inch sizes. The award-winning Galaxy Note 10.1 with integrated S-pen is up for grabs as well, in both black and white flavors.
