On the 11th of June, four of NASA's astronauts made drastic career changes and turned into aquanauts.

As part of the NEEMO (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations) program, the researchers were sent to spend 12 days in the Aquarius station, off the Florida Keys, where they are presumed to become accustomed to living in hostile, foreign environments.

Apparently, this experience will provide them with proper training and prepare them for future space missions.

Thus, when actually going into outer space, they will be able to take informed decisions regarding communication with land-bases, crew size and the effects of alien gravitational forces.

From where we stand – with our feet firmly fixed on the ground, that is – we wish them the best of luck in this experiment.
