How much World War II can one gamer take? That seems to be the question these days. Sure, we have the closer-to-realism-than-thou approaches of games like Call Of Duty or Medal of Honor. We have the grand strategies like Hearts of Iron, we have the tactical strategies like Codename: Panzers. We even have the humorous and cartoonish approach of games like Red Alert 2. We have recently been playing the excellent alternate scenario of World in Conflict.

Codemasters have recently announced that Turning Point: Fall of Liberty will be released on March 14. Turning Point is an alternate reality FPS that puts the player in the shoes of one construction worker in New York on that fateful day in 1953, when the Nazis invaded the East Coast. The turning point in the alternate reality of the game is Winston Churchill getting killed in a car accident. Britain gets overrun in 1940 and then it's the turn of the USA. The game will feature impressive environments, from a bombed New York with a fallen Chrysler building to the White House and portions of London, and advanced war technology, the result of the Nazis having another 10 years to develop their wonder weapons.

The game was earlier slated for release on February 29, by most game retailers, but Codemasters refused to confirm that date. Later on, it emerged that the Turning Point: Fall of Liberty demo was ill received by fans. Complaints ranged from less than spectacular graphics to control and targeting issues in the demo. Since then, Codemasters and developer Spark have declared that the demo was put together with an earlier version of the game and that the problems indicated by fans are long gone in the final release.

While we hate to see an exciting concept postponed, it seems to be a good idea for Spark and Codemasters to take a little more time to get all possible bugs out of Turning Point. On March 14, the game is released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
