Back at CES 2012, Lian Li introduced a new breed of PC cases with the announcement of the PC-Q05 ultra-thin chassis that was designed for Intel’s new thin mini-ITX standard.

If you aren’t all that familiar with this new form factor, you should know that the “thin ITX” term is used to describe motherboards that aren’t a hair of an inch taller than 25mm (0.98 inches).

This is quite an impressive size reduction when compared to the 44mm (1.73 inches) of regular mini-ITX board and it’s what enables the Lian Li to reach such a low profile for the PC-Q05.

Since CES, Lian Li has released additional information about this case, so we now know that it weighs a mere 1.76 pounds (0.8kg) and that it can accommodate a pair of 2.5-inch drive bays.

More details, as well as some glamour shots of the PC-Q05 case, are available on Lian Li’s website, but sadly its release date isn’t mentioned anywhere.
