For use in Intel-based mobile PCs

The past two months have been literally filled to the brim with announcements of new, high-performance components, not just central processors and graphics cards but also high-speed memory solutions of 2,500MHz and beyond. However, there hasn't been nearly as much movement on the mobile PC segment, even though demand for high-tier notebooks is strong. Seeking to rectify this oversight, Lexar Media has now stepped forth and unleashed a new memory module branded Crucial.

Crucial memory products are known for being not only highly capable, but also energy efficient. The latest SO-DIMM from Lexar Media, thus, tries to not only enable a high capacity and frequency, but also a low-power draw.

To be more specific, the latest memory module unleashed by the company is a 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM with a frequency of 1,333MHz. It is especially meant for high-end notebooks where its CL9 timings and power consumption of 1.5V will not only enable a high performance but also an overall longer battery life. It should also be noted that the module was especially optimized (and validated) for Intel-based configurations, which already benefit from the significant power savings enabled by the 32nm-based Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs.

"The shift from DDR2 to DDR3 memory in the mobile computing space allowed for higher memory bandwidths while using less power, which resulted in improved system performance and potentially longer battery life," Jim Jardine, Lexar Media's senior worldwide product manager, said. "Now, with the availability of high-density 4GB Crucial DDR3-1333MHz SODIMM modules, mobile users will push the limits of notebook system performance and speed even further."

Accompanied by a lifetime warranty, the 4GB Crucial DDR3-1333MHz module has a price of $249.99. Modules of 1GB and 2GB are also available and can be acquired as stand-alone products or as part of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB kits.
