With a 60X data transfer speed

Cross-promotions between digital camera makers and memory card manufacturers have always enjoyed quite a high level of success, and that's simply because, typically, most users also purchase a memory card whenever they go shopping for a new digital camera. And that's also the case with the Lexar – Kodak partnership, the latest product launched in the series of Kodak-branded cards being a pretty speedy SDHC card.

The new high-capacity KODAK-branded card (which follows in the footsteps of two other models, providing 4 GB and 8 GB of space, respectively) is designed to capture and store large amounts of data when paired with today’s SDHC-enabled digital video and point-and-shoot cameras. The new 16GB KODAK SDHC High-Speed Card is speed-rated at 60x, capable of minimum sustained read and write speeds of 9MB per second for capturing full motion video without interruption.

"As more point-and-shoot digital cameras include advanced features such as HD video recording and rapid-fire picture-taking, a greater number of photographers demand a memory card that is fast enough to enable them to take advantage of their new camera’s technology," said Manisha Sharma, director of product marketing, Lexar, explaining the reasons why the memory maker had decided to enter a partnership with a manufacturer of digital cameras.

However, as expected, the Lexar official pointed out the fact that this card was not designed specifically to work just with Kodak cameras, but with pretty much any compatible device out there. "The KODAK SDHC High-Speed Card is an excellent choice for not only Kodak cameras, but all SDHC-compatible digital cameras. The strength of the KODAK brand paired with Lexar’s high-speed, high-capacity capabilities enables users of the card to experience the enhanced benefits of today’s digital cameras."

The new 16GB KODAK SDHC card will be available in October for a yet undisclosed price, but until it arrives in stores, the visitors of this year's Photokina show will be able to take a closer look at it at Lexar's (or Kodak's) stand.
