Attractivness was not taken into account when designing her

Ken Levine, the leader of the development team at Irrational Games that is working on the upcoming BioShock Infinite, has declared his surprise at the sex symbol status that Elizabeth, one of the main characters of the game, has achieved despite her age.

Speaking with the Official Xbox Magazine the developer stated that the team is not focusing in any way on the physical look of Elizabeth, saying, “Does she need to be physically attractive? Booker’s not exactly an unattractive dude himself. He doesn’t have a spare tyre and he’s a good-looking guy. Generally people in media are more attractive than the average person.”

He also said that the fan base has a right to talk about any aspect of the game they are interested in but the team is not interested in making Elizabeth’s chest a point of interest in the game.

Levine added, “I’ve spent way more time thinking about her eyes than her chest because eyes show a ton of expression, and you see her at a great distance.”

The BioShock games have been well known for creating a number of complex character, both male and female, and the focus has always been on their ideas and their morality rather than on their looks.

Infinite moves the action away from the underwater city of Rapture and onto Columbia, a flying island that was designed as a testament to the innovation and the industrial power of the United States.

The players takes on the role of Booker, a detective who has been sent there to rescue a girl called Elizabeth.

She exhibits a variety of special powers, including the ability to open portals to what seem to be alternate dimensions.

At the moment Take Two and Irrational Games are planning to launch BioShock Infinite on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, probably during the fall of 2012.
