14 DAY TRIAL // The case of Leonardo DiCaprio's missing niece has a happy ending. After the 6-year-old girl was reported missing following the arrest of her parents on drug-related charges, a spokesperson for the LA County Department of Children and Family Service has confirmed she was found.
Normadie Farrar, the daughter of Adam Farrar, Leonardo DiCaprio's step brother, has been missing since January 25, but she was found by authorities on January 30, Hollywoodlife reports.
“I am happy to confirm that this child has in fact been found,” the spokesperson said. “It’s great news. Beyond that, I can’t really say more. It’s always a little delicate as our department is prohibited by state rules from disclosing case-specific information,” he explained.
Normandie was reported missing by worried relatives who previously had expressed their concern regarding her safety after her parents moved away beyond the reach of the town's child protective services.
They were last seen in Dallas, Texas, where last week both the mother and the father were arrested on drug-related charges in two separate incidents. “Adam and Charity have been hiding with Normandie in Texas, away from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Service, who have long been involved in their cases due to their criminal pasts,” a source told the press.
The couple was accused of kidnapping their own daughter and their whereabouts remained a secret until a couple of days ago, when they were arrested. Adam was arrested last week on two counts of possession of a dangerous drug as well as theft and harassment.
Meanwhile, Normadie's mother, Charity, was also arrested in a separate incident that took place a couple of days before the father's arrest. She got charged with three counts of possession of controlled substances, two counts of possession of a dangerous drug and theft.
In light of the recent events, both parents stand to be also charged with parental/family abduction.
Though they became estranged in later years, Adam and Leonardo were very close at the beginning of his career. Adam, who was also an actor at the time, used to hit the town with Leo and attend parties and other events.
