When he was younger, there wasn’t anything about Leonardo DiCaprio that might have made at least one of his millions of female fans think there were a few extra pounds to his frame, but quite on the contrary. Now that he’s grown, the actor is bulkier and not necessarily because he’s fat or anything. Still, producers for his upcoming film, “Inception,” want him to lose some weight and to do it fast, Radar Online reports.

Sources on the set of the Christopher Nolan-directed film tell Radar producers are not happy with DiCaprio’s bulkier frame and have already ordered him to drop some pounds: 30 to be more exact. By the end of the year, for even more clarity. Leonardo has, of course, agreed to get in better shape for some big fighting scene that will reportedly be shot towards the end of the year, and has already started a diet and working out more.

“Leo needs to shed at least 30lbs. He’s gained weight recently and looks almost a bit flabby, which isn’t good, especially as the camera adds pounds. There’s an action scene coming up at the end of the year in which he needs to appear emaciated, so the pressure is on.” the unnamed source says for Radar. Losing or gaining weight for one part is not uncommon among actors and actresses but, as fans must know, it’s a practice that Leonardo DiCaprio has never tried. Understandably then, he is nervous about the task at hand and fears failure, the spy further points out.

“Leo isn’t the kind of guy who can just lose a radical amount of weight though – he gets very nervous about it. He’s following a strict diet and is embarking on a rigorous workout regime. Leo’s a pretty determined kind of guy, when he sets his mind to things he always achieves them. Though this is going to be hard for him, you can guarantee he’ll succeed.” the same tipster reveals, adding that the actor has already started cutting back on calories and spending more time in the gym to increase the amount of calories burned.

Also starring Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy and Michael Caine, “Inception” is currently shooting in Morocco. The film has been scheduled for release in the summer of 2010 – see a teaser trailer for it below.
