Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is teaming up again with his favorite director of all times (judging by the number of collaborations so far), Martin Scorsese. The two will do next “The Wolf of Wall Street,” Variety reports.

The film, based on Jordan Belfort’s autobiography by the same name, has been in production limbo for years, the movie-oriented publication notes.

Now that DiCaprio and Scorsese are both officially attached, things are looking up for it, even though details remain very sketchy at this point.

“Martin Scorsese is back onboard to direct ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ with Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the long-gestating adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir,” Variety reports.

“Project had been set up at Warner Bros. in May 2007 with Scorsese and DiCaprio attached a few months after ‘The Departed’ won the Oscar for picture, but the much-in-demand director subsequently fell out,” the publication notes.

The other day, Scorsese officially signed on for the film to direct it. He will also act as co-producer on the film with Alexandra Milchan and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way company.

The script based on the memoir will be handled by Terence Winter, whose credits include award-winning series like “The Sopranos” and “Boardwalk Empire.”

“The project will chronicle Belfort’s dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life, which included drug addiction,” Variety writes of the plot.

“It’s unclear whether ‘Wolf’ is still set up at Warner Bros., where Appian Way’s based. Financing details and a start date will be announced at Cannes in May,” the report further notes.

The book’s writer will also be involved in the project.

“After almost four years in development, I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am to finally be working with Leo and Marty on this. They’re the ultimate dream team, and it was definitely worth the wait,” Belfort says.

“Wolf of Wall Street” will mark DiCaprio and Scorsese’s fifth collaboration after “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “The Departed” and “Shutter Island.”
