14 DAY TRIAL // The real reason why Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli are no longer together has transpired in the press: sources close to the former couple claim he was ready to settle down and have children, whereas she didn’t feel the same.
The National Enquirer (story via here) disagrees with earlier reports that the relationship “had simply run its course,” saying that it only ended because Leo wanted it to end.
For some time, the 36-year-old actor had been thinking about starting a family and he really believed Bar could be the only to do it with.
However, the 25-year-old model did not feel the same, telling Leo that she couldn’t have his baby the instant they got married, because she was not yet ready for it.
Apparently, there are “insiders” who can vouch that this is the real reason of the split.
“Leo told Bar he expected kids if they walk down the aisle. While Bar sees herself as being a mom down the road, and wants a family, her career is on fire right now,” one such spy says for the tab.
As such, she couldn’t afford to lose contracts because she was taking time off to be a mom.
“She knows that she’s not going to get many modeling assignments with a pregnant belly,” the tipster adds.
After he was flat-out refused, Leonardo decided to end things with his model girlfriend – but that’s not to say he wouldn’t consider reconciling if she changed her mind.
“Leo is so angry that he basically told her to take a hike – he feels like he was wasting time with her… over the past year, Leo thought long and hard and decided Bar was ‘the one’ and he wanted children with her,” the insider explains.
“Leo sees how happy his close friend Tobey Maguire is being a dad – Leo wants what his best friend has. But Bar has already told him she’s just not ready. It crushed Leo,” the same spy adds.
Even so, if Bar were ever to change her mind about having children right away, DiCaprio would run back to her in a second, asking her for a second change, the Enquirer says.
