Lenovo introduces two new, green, high-performance desktops for large businesses

Aimed at large businesses, the ThinkCentre M90 and M90p are high-performance desktop PCs that are designed as green and reliable solutions for both boosting productivity and reducing costs. They are powered by Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors, use up to 42% of post-consumer recycled content and are Energy Star 5.0 certified. These two business desktops are the company's first to use the 2010 Intel Core vPro family of processors, which enhance multitasking and the running of operative intensive applications.

The Intel Core i5 and Core i7 chips are built with the Intel Turbo Boost and Intel Hyper Threading technologies, which can increase performance by up to 81%, compared with previous ThinkCentre models. In addition, The systems both employ Lenovo's Power Management and other energy-management tools, which can save up to $43 in annual bills per computer. This is especially helpful to large companies that employ about 10,000 systems, especially considering that the reduced costs do not imply any compromise as to the performance. Users will even see better results during multitasking activities such as data entry, e-discovery and payroll processing.

“Our customers tell us their technology priorities in 2010, including migrating to Windows 7, are to help minimize costs and streamline operations,” Dilip Bhatia, executive director, ThinkCentre Marketing, Lenovo, said. “The new ThinkCentre M90 and M90p are not only designed to help large businesses lower costs in PC management, but are equipped with the latest technologies to foster stronger productivity, ensure better security and allow IT managers to more efficiently manage large global fleets.”

The ThinkCentre M90 and M90p are also designed with features that improve their security, enhance their scalability and enable remote management. The Lenovo Secure Managed Client 2.0 is a remote, storage-based solution that offers benefits such as centralized image and user provisioning, secure data storage and redundancy, as well as the single image capability. The added flexibility and scalability are complemented by the enhanced security conferred by the Hardware Password Manager, a ThinkVantage technology. This tool increases overall data security and reduces the expenses and time associated with resetting employee passwords.

The M90 and M90p desktops also boast remote management features. The Power Manager, also a ThinkVantage technology, enables the remote management of energy consumption while the hardware-based Intel vPro Technology enables the easy discovery, protection and healing of networked M90p desktops throughout their PC fleet. Hardware issues can be diagnosed even when the actual PC is turned off and systems can be remotely isolated and recovered after operating system failures.

Both the ThinkCentre M90 and the M90p will become available in February and will be sold through Lenovo's business partners and www.lenovo.com. Models will be available in tower, small form-factor and ultra small form-factors and will have starting prices of $779 for the M90 and of $899 for the M90p.
