Announced last month at the CES 2012 fair, Lenovo’s IdeaPad U300e 13.3-inch Ultrabook has now become available for purchase in the US, from Lenovo’s online shop, with prices starting at $959.20 (about 736 EUR).

This price includes an eCoupon discount which subtracts $240 from the $1,199 (922 EUR) online list price of the U300e.

Compared to the IdeaPad U300s which went on sale at the end of last year, the IdeaPad U300e comes with a slower 1.6GHz Core i5 processor and drops the SSD used by its counterpart for a hybrid storage solution (HDD+SSD) with 532GB of storage space.

The Intel processor is however seconded by the same 4GB of system memory, while for graphics duty Lenovo has chosen to go with the HD 3000 integrated GPU found inside Intel’s Sandy Bridge CPUs.

This is paired together with a 13.3-inch screen, with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

In the connectivity department, the IdeaPad U300e features all the usual 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and Ethernet options, but also includes an USB 3.0 port.

An HDMI output is also included and the rest of the specs sheet includes a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a 4-cell battery pack, but Lenovo hasn’t mentioned for just how much time this can power the U300e.

To make the U300e Ultrabook even more appealing for its customers, the company has also added to its latest creation a breathable AccuType keyboard, paired together with a stylish glass touchpad featuring easy zoom, scroll and rotate functions.

According to Lenovo’s online store, the 13.3-inch IdeaPad U300e notebook will be shipping in more than four weeks after an order is placed.

If you can’t wait all that long, Lenovo also has the U300s available, which will ship in the first days of March, but this is priced at a not so friendly $1,499 (1,152 EUR).
