We are seeing a considerable push from PC vendors of new ultraportable computer systems that are based on Intel's latest CULV platform. Such is the case with Lenovo, which has just announced the official introduction of its new IdeaPad U150, a laptop designed to provide customers with a choice for an 11.6-inch system that combines portability with the performance of Intel's low-power platform. Although the system is yet to become official on the company's US website, the IdeaPad U150 has just been announced by the company's Japanese branch.

According to the technical specifications of the new ultraportable, users will be able to take advantage of the performance delivered by Intel's Core 2 Duo SU2300 processor, clocked at a cool 1.2GHz and coupled with 2GB of DDR3 memory. The system can support a maximum of 8GB of memory and also comes with a 250GB hard drive and wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, as well as Gigabit Ethernet.

Aside from that, the new ultraportable laptop from Lenovo comes featured with a 1.3MP webcam, two USB 2.0 ports, a combo USB/eSATA connector, an HDMI and VGA video outputs, as well as the necessary audio in/out connectors. Additional features include a multitouch-enabled trackpad, a multi-in-one card reader, and “Dolby Sound Room” speaker technology, providing users with a decent audio experience.

The PC vendor claims that the laptop's 6-cell battery pack can deliver up to 7 hours of runtime, while running on the fresh new Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. While no 3G option is available for the model launched in Japan, the system could be featured with this option when it hits Stateside. The entire laptop weighs in at 1.5kg and is 13.5-34.3mm thick, but that's pretty much all we have at this point.
