Lenovo has a habit, like its peers, of periodically updating its product lineups, but this time it figured it would team up with another company, VXL Instruments to be precise, in order to provide the market with a new pair of thin clients powered by the AMD and Intel mobile platforms, respectively, and dubbed TL100 and TL412.

The Tl100 has a screen size of 11.6 inches, whereas the TL412 boasts a panel measuring 14.1 inches in diagonal.

The two newcomers are aimed at virtualization and are each equipped with 1GB of RAM and 1GB of flash storage.

The 1GB of RAM backs up an AMD Athlon Neo 1.6GHz CPU on the TL100 and a 1.86 Celeron dual-core central processing unit on the larger TL412.

VXL is willing to load either model with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, Windows Embedded (WES) and, starting in Q4, even Linux.

“This new collaboration will maximise benefits for the end user, allowing us to deliver a great choice of leading-edge products with high speed processors, a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty and extensive accessories, ”Arun Kumar Bhuwania, VXL’s Chairman commented,

“The laptop business is really taking off as users recognise the value and security of truly mobile thin client computing.”

“Industry analysts forecast that the current growth in thin client laptops will continue as a result of the lower purchase and running costs, ease of management and greater security,” said Bhuwania.

“By expanding the range and forming a new technology relationship with Lenovo, we are pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to quality, low cost of ownership, choice and performance,” he finished.

The products incorporate the XLmanage Workgroup Edition software, VXL’s latest remote management software, as standard.

Unfortunately, exact pricing and availability details have not yet been disclosed.
