The systems have top desktop-grade capabilities and are meant for all fields of science

More or less anyone has seen a computer by now, whether live or in a picture. There are several different types of desktops though, and despite what you may think, the best ones aren't necessarily gaming systems.

Indeed, the best computers are actually workstations, because they have the best Intel CPUs and professional graphics from NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices.

That is exactly the case of the Lenovo ThinkStation P series. Intel Xeon high-end CPUs are backed up by DDR3 or even DDR4 RAM, as well as NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards.

Quadro is the brand used by NVIDIA for its professional GPU series. The products making up that line are better than consumer/gaming ones in every way, with up to twice as much GDDR5 VRAM, but also more expensive.

The best of the new line, ThinkStation P900, has a Xeon CPU backed up by a customizable RAM amount, up to three NVIDIA Quadro K6000 graphic cards, and between 1 and 14 storage devices. That's right, fourteen HDDs and/or SSDs. Clearly, Lenovo isn't fooling around.

It's almost a shame that sales of Lenovo's new workstations won't start before later this fall (October/November). Then again, this does spare the faint of heart from being confronted with the doubtlessly huge prices before they are ready to handle the shock.
