Lots of ThinkPad Yoga users are reporting having screen problems

As the world’s biggest PC manufacturer, this week Lenovo is boasting important sales numbers for its last quarter in 2013, some of its customers are reportedly having nasty screen issues with one of the company’s expensive products, the Thinkpad Yoga.

They have started a topic on the Lenovo forums, which stretches for endless pages and you can see the owners’ frustration build-up as the company seems to be taking its sweet time dealing with the issue.

User juanseb03 reports that he’s “got a Thinkpad Yoga 20CD-0033US at Fry's Electronics. At almost 3 weeks of my purchase, I noticed using a desktop app that after 5 minutes, the screen starts ‘memorizing’ the images that are static, like the explorer bar and the Start logo.”

“This gets worst if the image has white and is big, because more time the image remains, more bold gets on the screen. I'm not sure if it's a driver problem or is about the build quality of the screen.”

“I have to add than I'm very disappointed with the build quality of this computer. The one that I'm using is the SECOND ONE!, because the first stopped working at the third day, and this second one has design flaws, like a defective ‘B’ letter and visible spaces between the screen and its housing. Very unacceptable for a $1300 laptop.”

User Ir13 provides another example by saying “Let me add some of my experience. After maybe 3-5minutes with an opened e-Mail I can close Outlook. If I switch to a grey background I can clearly read the mail I closed before for about 2 Minutes.”

ThinkPad Yoga owners are crying out for a fix or an official statement, but Lenovo isn't apparently hurrying up to provide anything. Finally, a company representative encourages disheartened users to send in their info and explain the problem, while promising teams are working to resolve things.

“The info you sent is very helpful to us to see the case from a broader view because you are from different countries.

“Investigation is needed: how to replicate this issue, which model or what specs, etc. Therefore a sample machine and the info provided by you all mean a lot to us. We are looking and working on this case. A sample unit is needed now as the one in the lab does not exhibit this issue. We're working on getting a sample currently.”

While Lenovo is working on this, those of you affected by the issues will just have to wait and see, if you still have faith. But many owners have already proceeded returning the products.
