Lenovo is prepping the launch of its newest business slate

Late last month, we told you that the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 tablet was almost made official, after the device showed up on the company’s official Australian website.

Lenovo isn’t actually selling the tablet just yet, but Liliputing reports that we have a date for when the tablet is going to be made official. According to the publication, we can expect Lenovo to officially pull the veil off the ThinkPad 10 tablet on May 14.

The date shows up listed in Lenovo’s ThinkPad Tablets and Convertibles product specification reference guide, so it’s certain that you can expect to see the device appear in the wild as soon as next week.

The ThinkPad 10 tablet is the larger brother of the popular ThinkPad 8 business slate that was launched a few months ago.

For those of you who made it late to the party, the ThinkPad 10 business tablet is expected to arrive with a 10.1-inch screen and 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS display with 180 degree viewing angle and support for multitouch.

The slate draws power from an Intel Atom Z3795 quad-core processor fitted with either 2GB / 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

At first, Lenovo will be making only the 2GB / 64GB model available, while the higher-capacity options will be pushed out at some later date.

Initially, the tablet will launch with Windows 8.1 32-bit, but a Windows 8.1 64-bit and a Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit version are expected to arrive at some point too, although we don’t really know when. The Pro version will also ship with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 pre-loaded, but the other models won’t.

The ThinkPad 10 will come with an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP frontal one, stereo speakers, mic, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0.

Being a business tablet, Lenovo has made sure that the device will have a long enough battery life to get you through the day, so you can expect the ThinkPad 10 to be charged for 10 hours.

Like with the ThinkPad 8, Lenovo is offering the new tablet with the QuickShot Cover. The accessory has a foldable flap that unveils the rear camera when users need to snap a picture using the tablet.

Furthermore, a tablet dock equipped with 3USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, Ethernet jack, PXE boot support and audio jacks will be offered. Other accessories include a slot for a digitizer pen and Ultrabook Keyboard. The tablet is also expected to support 4G LTE, EDVO and HSPA+ cellular networks.
