The Lenovo S5000 tablet is a device launched back in 2013, but it seems the company is looking to breathe new life unto it.

According to the guys over at TabletManiak, the slate is reportedly receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in Poland.

Apparently, Lenovo is pushing a total of four updates weighing between 13MP to 45MB, while the most important the KitKat one is 640MB.

Like expected, the new build will arrive over-the-air (OTA) so it should hit different tablets at different times, based on location and such.

The update brings the KitKat-specific improvements including new notifications center, refreshed graphical interface and new language options.

So if you too have a Lenovo S5000 tablet lying around somewhere, now it’s time to brush the dust off it.

As a reminder, the slate arrives with a 7-inch IPS LCD display offering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

The device draws power from a Mediatek MT8125 or MY8389 quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

The tablet arrived with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, but also received the Android 4.3 update. Now, users will be able to take things to the next level. It’s good to see Lenovo is taking care of its older products, too!
