14 DAY TRIAL // Lenovo took an opportunity to refresh the original Yoga 11/13 line at CES this year, by outing two relatively budget-friendly models, the IdeaPad Yoga 2 11 and 13.
The design of the new models continue to carry on the family tradition, meaning the display can be rotated with 360 degrees and then folded on the back of the keyboard, so the device can be used in tablet mode. Of course, the products can be used in other intermediate configurations like tent or booth.
Neatly enough, the new models can detect which mode is being used and, as a result, they will be suggesting the appropriate applications (via Yoga Picks apps) like Chef Yoga or Yoga Photo touch.
The two new models have been thinned and slimmed down (the 11-incher has 17 mm / 0.66 inches and 1.3 kg / 2.8 lbs while the 13-inch has 17.3 mm / 0.68 and 1.5kg / 3.3 lbs) and come bundled with both an AccuType keyboard, says Notebook Italia.
The basic model features an 11.6-inch screen with 720p and draws power from a quad-core Intel Pentium processor (based on Haswell) in combination with 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard-disk ad 16GB SSD drive. On the bright side of things, this model doesn't run Windows RT anymore and has been upgraded to fully-fledged Windows.
The 13-incher, on the other hand, ups things a notch in a few departments, adding up to Intel’s Haswell Core i5 (but not i7) processor inside, a full HD resolution and a backlit keyboard.
The 11-inch model will be available in late January with pricing climbing from a relatively decent $549 / €404, while the more powerful 13.3-incher will have a starting price set at $999 / €734.
Notably, Lenovo has shrunken down the prices for the next-generation IdeaPad Yogas as to appeal to more consumers out there looking to bring into their lives a versatile device that can be used in more than one way.
