Lenovo is looking to refresh its Yoga tablet bunch

Late last month, we brought you news that an unidentified Lenovo Yoga device had been spotted making an entry at the FCC, but we weren't sure which family of products this new Yoga pertained to.

First of all, we should mention that Lenovo uses the Yoga moniker to describe two types of products. The first one is a Windows notebook line that comes with a characteristic 360-degree hinge system that allows users to push back the screen of the device.

The other line is made up of Android tablets featuring the innovative kickstand/handle system that allows the tablet to stand up on its own.

But this week’s event might help us shed some light on what’s coming in terms of Yogas. On the website of the Indonesian agency Postel, a bunch of listings related to the Yoga line were uncovered, indicating that the upcoming slates would be part of the Android bunch (as seen at Notebook Italia).

The models revealed were the Lenovo Yoga tablet-1050L 2, Lenovo Yoga tablet 1050F 2, Lenovo Yoga tablet 1051L 2, Lenovo Yoga tablet 1051F 2, and Lenovo Yoga tablet-830 2.

Judging by the model numbers, it is safe to assume that we’re talking about the next-gen Yoga tablets, which will arrive in 8-inch and 10-inch flavors, just like their predecessors.

However, we are yet to see any information regarding the specs inside the slates. Back at MWC 2014, Lenovo took the opportunity to unveil the Yoga 10 HD+ tablet, which came with bumped resolution and Snapdragon processor inside.

The original Yoga tablets arrived in 8-inch and 10-inch models, featuring a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and drawing life from a 1.2GHz MT8125 quad-core processor (or MT8389 quad-core one if we’re talking 3G models) fitted with 1GB of RAM. Customers were allowed to opt between the 16GB or 32GB versions.

The slates shipped with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, but the update to Android 4.4. KitKat was rolled out not so long ago, although it did cause some problems for some models, like the Netflix app not working.

A few months after the release of the original Yogas, Lenovo introduced the improved Yoga 10 HD+, a tablet boasting a 10-inch screen with FHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). The company switched the MediaTek processor and placed a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 processor combined with 2GB of RAM instead.

But what about the new tablets? They might bring to the table the same FHD resolution for both models, a better processor, and possibly Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.
