Lenovo might have been hailed as the world’s biggest PC maker, but the company is gradually becoming an important player in the mobile market, especially in the tablet sector.

This week, Lenovo has posted its earnings report for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2013 and they seem to be quite encouraging. The Chinese tech giant apparently saw a 30% year-over-year increase, which was mostly owed to sales boosts in the smartphone and tablet department.

According to the official press release, Lenovo’s Yoga tablet, which can be used in three different ways, including hold, tilt and stand and offers a massive battery life of 18 hours, is very popular with consumers.

On top of that, Lenovo also pulled the veil off new Lenovo Miix 2 models, with 10- and 11-inch screens , the successors of the productive Lenovo Miix 2 8, which are also expected to sell well.

With new models available on the market, tablet shipments grew with 326% year-over-year to a record 3.4 million units. And according to the report, Lenovo currently holds 4.3% market share. Nevertheless, the Chinese giant is far away from overthrowing giants like Samsung or Apple from their top everlasting positions.

Even so, things seem to be going in the right direction for Lenovo and now with Motorola Mobility onboard, Lenovo’s grip on the mobile market will certainly extend.
