You might remember that, a couple of days ago, I caught wind of a report about IBM wanting to sell its server business and Lenovo thinking of buying it.

The official confirmation has now arrived, but the price that Lenovo will pay isn't as high as expected.

Instead of $2.5 billion / €1.85 billion, Lenovo will fork up $2.3 billion / €1.69 billion.

About 7,500 IBM employees around the world will become Lenovo workers after this, including those based at major locations such as Raleigh, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei.

For those who want a full list, Lenovo will be gaining ownership of System x, BladeCenter and Flex System blade servers and switches, x86-based Flex integrated systems, NeXtScale and iDataPlex servers.

System z mainframes, Power Systems, Storage Systems, Power-based Flex servers, and PureApplication and PureData appliances will stay under IBM though.
