The two don't reach an agreement for switching ownership of server business

Last month, we learned that Lenovo was gunning for IBM's server business, and that it was searching for other parties that could help it secure a portion of the server industry for itself.

Given Lenovo's success on the PC market, where it rose to prominence in just a few years, it wasn't too hard to believe all would go smoothly.

Alas, things did not, in fact, go smoothly at all. While Lenovo and IBM gave the best they had during negotiations, this worked against them, as no agreement was reached.

The parties basically disagreed over the price, and the disagreement must have been quite unyielding as there is little chance of talks starting up again.

No word on whether or not Lenovo is looking into other corporations' server businesses. There aren't many choices there.

Neither company has commented on the report.
