Good news for Android fans and enthusiasts in India who have purchased the Lenovo Vibe X or Vibe Z, as the Chinese company has confirmed that it will deliver an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update beginning later this month.

According to Lenovo, the rollout of the KitKat update for both its high-end smartphones will start at the end of May, but it may take up to one month until all Vibe X and Vibe Z owners receive it.

Although the handset maker claims that the update will be rolled out OTA (over the air), there’s a chance that Vibe X and Vibe Z owners might be able to manually download it from Lenovo’s server, though keep in mind that both smartphones lack microSD card slots.

Lenovo launched both Vibe X and Vibe Z in India a few months ago, but they were powered by Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, which wasn’t exactly what fans of Google’s mobile platform were expecting.

However, it appears that Lenovo has listened to users’ feedback and is now almost ready to deploy the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade to Vibe X and Vibe Z devices.

The Chinese handset maker has not shared details on when exactly the update will start rolling out for both smartphones, but it has unveiled what changes it could bring for those upgrading to KitKat.

Fonearena reports that Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Lenovo Vibe X and Vibe Z should add improved support for application compatibility, lots of security enhancements and bug fixes, as well as a brand new UI with much better incoming call interface.

But that is not all. The update should also include enhanced autofocus and white balance feature for the rear-facing cameras, along with better Lenovo power manager, which is meant to offer improved battery consumption with up to 15-20% performance enhancement.

Additionally, the Vibe Z should be improved with better 4K video playback, enhanced processing power for smoother UI transitions, as well as multisensory user experience.

Lenovo Vibe Z should also receive better multi-windows mode, so users can take advantage of multiple apps at the same time, enhanced notification access, wireless printing, new theme center and automatic profile changer.

Overall, it looks like Lenovo will improve every aspect of the Vibe X and Vibe Z smartphones in order to make them faster and more user-friendly. We will keep an eye out for more details on when exactly the update will be rolled out, so stay tuned for more on this one.
