Leica fans might know that several months ago rumors of the long-awaited Leica T type 701 mirrorless camera emerged online, indicating the device would be announced in April.

Now, LeicaRumors reports the German photo gear manufacturer has sent out invitations for a “special highlight” event set for April 24, in Berlin. So there you have it, we’re most likely to see Leica's T type 701 camera finally appear into the wild.

The exact specifications of the upcoming camera are quite sketchy at the moment. It has been speculated that the mirrorless device will come packing an APS-C sensor and have some of its lenses produced in Asia, while the camera per-se will be made in Germany.

A new mirrorless Leica camera bridging the M and X lines has been rumored to arrive for quite some time, but it was postponed for various reasons. Hopefully enough, this won’t happen on the grounds in Berlin.

Anyway, Leica is known for its quality products, but also its hefty price-tags, so if you have your mind set on a mirrorless camera coming from the company, you should probably start saving up already.

In other news, the Leica D-Lux 6 Edition 100 Digital Camera has just been launched in Taiwan, being limited to 5000 units worldwide.
