AppCam has issued a press release in which it describes the resemblance

Here’s an interesting piece of information. AppCam has just issued an official press release in which they highlight the fact that the Leica T graphical user interface (GUI) and operating system bears a “surprising resemblance” to the AppCam OS-II.

Coincidence or something more? The story goes like this, the folks over at AppCam managed to get their hands on a Leica T and after enjoying the aesthetic benefits of the camera, they proceeded to play a little with the device, says SLR Lounge.

But what struck them were the similarities between Leica’s GUI and their own AppCam system. The only major difference, they claim, is that users will need to tap in order to set values on the Leica T, while the AppCam uses dials.

But the use of cameras apps and free configuration has been almost perfectly replicated. AppCam has contacted Leica to inquire about the circumstances of this so-called “accident,” but their questions were brushed off and explained by virtue of a “parallel development” of the products.

Despite the circumstances, AppCam does not expressly state that Leica stole their idea or not, but the Elvis Joke inserted in the Press Release suggests they continue to have their doubts.

Anyway, AppCam continues to be optimistic and confident the happening will help the world better understand the benefits of camera apps.

“Camera apps are the future,” they claim.
