Left 4 Dead is shaping up to be a pretty interesting title, promising to revamp the old zombie shooter genre, with more agile enemies and up to four player co-op. Valve, the company responsible for hits such as Half Life, Team Fortress or Portal, is really backing up its latest creation and has released a demo available only for the players who pre-ordered the game.

We have already posted our impressions on this great demo and it's definitely something everyone should pick up in order to get a taste of this very well polished zombie shooter. We have just received word from Valve that the demo is available for all Steam users and that Xbox 360 gamers who have a Live Gold account can also download it for their console on the Live Marketplace.

Although only a week separates us from the official launch of the game, November 18, one thing's for sure, shooter fans will play this demo up until the final moments before the release of the full game. For them, we have rounded up a few clever hints that might help their zombie shooter experience, as many have posted tips and tricks on the Steam Forums.

First of all, not a lot of people know that you can enable the console specific splitscreen mode on the PC demo of Left 4 Dead. Steam forum user TheBusGuy has put together a very handy tutorial which helps you enable this mode, but it has just been announced that Valve patched the demo so that other players can't use this feature. Although you needed an Xbox 360 controller for the second player, the opportunity of playing with a friend on the same PC was pretty interesting.

A simple console command can also enable you to play the game in third person view. All you need to do is enter this command into the developer console, which you can enable from the menu of the game and calling it up with the ` key. Just type in “bind <key> thirdpersonshoulder” without the apostrophes and you can play this game using a third person view.

As the first demo was released a few days ago, allowing gamers to even play as the zombies, against AI-controlled survivors, it now seems like this version of the demo which will be released today won't allow this kind of feature. But one thing's for sure, you're definitely going to have fun with this demo and the full game will certainly offer an excellent experience.
