Last week, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation confirmed plans to release the Android L platform version to its latest HTC One models in the coming months, and some more info on the matter is now available.

According to the company, the update was supposed to arrive on devices within 90 days from its official release, and it appears that things will indeed turn out this way in the end.

Google has unveiled plans to make the new Android L OS iteration available in a final flavor only sometime this fall, and HTC appears set to have it rolling out to its latest models before the end of the year.

In fact, a leaked roadmap that has emerged online courtesy of LlabTooFeR shows that the company is actually only evaluating whether it will release the update to almost a dozen devices, and that the rollout might kick off in October.

Said leaked document shows that the company is currently preparing the release of Android 4.4.4 KitKat for its handsets, and that it should start pushing it out as soon as the next month.

HTC One (M8), One (M8) Dual-SIM, One mini 2, One E8, and HTC One (M7) are set to receive this KitKat update, it seems. However, only One M8 and M7 might get a taste of it in July, with the rest of them set to receive it either in August or in September.

What’s interesting to note, however, is the fact that HTC hasn’t decided what to do with HTC One (M7) Dual-SIM, One Max, One mini (M4), and Butterfly S smartphones. In fact, no info on the company’s plans for updating Desire 816 and Desire 610 to this OS version has been confirmed as of now.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat is almost certain to never arrive on these smartphones. HTC will skip its release in favor of the newer OS iteration.

What remains to be seen, however, is what exactly the mobile phone maker will do when it comes to Android L, and whether all of the handsets mentioned above will get a taste of it or not.

The leaked info shows that the company is currently evaluating the release of this update to all of these smartphones, and that it is also looking into the possible release of Android L for its GPE handsets.

Android L might arrive on these smartphones with a brand-new version of Sense loaded on top, yet users will still have to wait a few good months before seeing it rolling out. Hopefully, HTC will provide some additional info on its plans on the matter soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
