14 DAY TRIAL // Photos showing what seems to be the new Lumia 1330 have leaked on a regular basis in the last 30 days or so, but despite all of these, Microsoft still chooses to remain tight-lipped on the details of this possible Lumia 1320 successor.
And yet, a couple of pictures that got leaked today allegedly reveal the back cover of the Lumia 1330, confirming that the device is indeed likely to come with a 5.7-inch display which would push it in the phablet range of smartphones.
These photos, published by a Chinese user and spotted by NPU, also reveal the Microsoft branding used on the back of the phone, which is another confirmation that Redmond is working at full speed to expand its Lumia series of devices.
Early specs
As far as the technical specifications of the Lumia 1330 are concerned, it appears that the device will indeed sport a 5.7-inch 720p display that’s more appropriate for a phablet than for a smartphone, so Microsoft might again be trying to offer an “affordable flagship” that would steal some potential buyers from other premium devices such as the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus.
And still, the other hardware specs clearly show that Lumia 1330 can hardly compete with these phablets in some areas, and even though Microsoft could launch it as an affordable flagship, its main markets might still be developing countries such as India and those in Asia.
In addition to the 5.7-inch display, Lumia 1330 is also likely to pack a 14.1-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, as well as a 5-megapixel front unit for selfies and Skype chats.
Only 1 GB of RAM could be offered and there’s no doubt that this is the area where the 1330 might lose some points in the race against its rivals. Lumia 1520, which is currently Microsoft’s number one phablet with a 6-inch screen, comes with 2 GB of RAM.
As for the launch date, people familiar with Microsoft’s plans suggest that Lumia 1330 could see daylight in the first months of this year, so expect more news and details to emerge very soon if this rumor is indeed true.
