Nokia E71 has been rumored before to be heading to AT&T, and it seems that all that talk might turn into reality after all. In addition, we also learn that the phone will come to the carrier with an updated software package, compared to the one currently running on the S60 smart phone.

The news reports on the Web point towards the fact that the AT&T version of the E71 will sport the Symbian S60 v3.2 operating system, which is also known as the Feature Pack 2 platform. The new OS is reported to come along with a series of user interface improvements and power management enhancements compared to version 3.1.

New leaked photos of the Nokia E71 stated to head for AT&T show that it comes with a new operating system. In addition, they suggest that there will also be a tweaked Active Standby (Today-like) screen and Device Manager application. Tasks and notifications on Symbian S60 devices can be viewed with the Active Standby screen, while the Device Manager comes with improvements that would deliver more information on device functions and updating.

It is still unclear when AT&T will introduce the Nokia E71 into its offering, but it has been suggested that the device is ready for launch but that it is waiting for some final approvals before going on sale. The photos come from a user who claims to have acquired the phone from Craigslist.

Currently, the unlocked/unbranded E71 can be acquired for under $400 from most online retailers. At the same time, the phone is also available at some Best Buy Mobile kiosks. The unlocked/unbranded Nokia E71 has been spotted in both the Euro 3G (E71-1) and North American 3G (E71-2) versions.

Hopefully, AT&T will soon unveil some more details on the availability of the Nokia E71 at its stores.
