It might not be too long before Verizon Wireless would make the DROID 2 Global available for purchase on its airwaves, as more and more pieces of information on the Android-based mobile phone have started to emerge.

We already learned that the device is set to arrive at the wireless carrier, and that it should replace the currently available DROID 2 by Motorola smartphone, though we cannot confirm an exact release date for the device, nor possible pricing.

What can be confirmed, however, is that the device would arrive in two color versions, including “Dark Sapphire” and “Winter White.”

Two DROID 2 Global SKUs were spotted not too long ago in a series of leaked internal documents, and they reportedly represent the aforementioned color flavors of the new device.

At the same time the new Android phone is expected to arrive with a 1.2GHz application processor inside, which should offer it enough raw power, that's for sure.

Some other features of the new device include Dual-band CDMA and quad-band GSM capabilities, physical keyboard and virtual Swype keyboard, 3 UI profiles, and 3G mobile hotspot capabilities.

Moreover, the smartphone should arrive on shelves with 8GB of internal memory, complemented by 8GB of pre-installed storage space via microSD card (with support for more external memory). The DROID 2 Global reportedly runs Android 2.2 Froyo and boasts support for Flash 10.1, while including document editing with QuickOffice, Inbox filtering, Invite attendees to meetings using GAL, and Free/busy lookups for meeting participants.

A 5-megapixel photo snapper with dual-LED flash was also included into the mix, as well as remote wipe features for both the device and the microSD card.

Additional info on the upcoming device can be found in the comparison sheet that was attached to this article, courtesy of Droid-Life, which also has a series of photos with what appears to be the white flavor of DROID 2 Global.

Provided that the device is indeed set to land at Verizon very soon, it should not be too long before more info on it emerges, so keep an eye on this space for more.
