The AMD HD 6000 series of video cards is steadily nearing its launch, which means that leaks and rumors are bound to keep appearing, such as one of the more recent ones, which seems to have included a slide containing the specifications of the Cayman GPUs.

The HD 6000 series of video cards will use GPUs based on the same manufacturing process as those form the HD 5000 lines, namely the 40nm technology.

Even so, however, they are supposed to provide a real benefit in performance, large enough to compete, if not overcome the Fermi-based boards form NVIDIA.

Previous reports have already let some details slip on the build of the Barts, but a more recent one appears to have given the full rundown of specifications for two cards based on the Cayman chips.

The two video boards in question are based on the Cayman XT and Cayman Pro graphics processing units, respectively.

The Cayman XT card, as one may expect, will be the more powerful of the duo, as it will have a memory clock speed of 6,000 MHz.

Granted, this performance will come in exchange for a TDP (thermal design power) of somewhere under 300W, a TDP that will be handled by one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express power connector.

The Cayman pro-based model will make do with two 6-pin connectors, as its memory will run at 5,000 MHz and its power draw will be of under 225W.

The final specifications have not yet been revealed, unfortunately, which means that the GPU frequencies, among other things, are still a mystery.

Still, some things are known, such as the fact that both boards have 1 GB of GDDR5 memory and identical connectivity capabilities, namely a pair of DVI, two mini DisplayPort 1.1 outputs and one HDMI 1.4 connector.

Both of these video controllers should reach stores next month and will be faced with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 470 and GTX 480 models.
