14 DAY TRIAL // Riot Games is teasing a brand new champion for its popular multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends.
League of Legends is the most successful MOBA ever created and one of the biggest free-to-play games in the world, with regular pro events being organized and millions upon millions of players enjoying it every day.
The hints have been dropped through a neat-looking website, delivering some snippets of lore in the form of campfire stories.
"Stories are not just history. They can be so much more. They nourish your mind and, if told well, can even fill your belly. Some tales are warnings, reaching across time. Others uplift our souls from the yoke of everyday burdens. We laugh at fools, cheer heroes, and curse villains until the fire burns down to embers," the blurb on the website reads.
The tiny fragments of prose continue in the same vein, referencing the Shattered Crown, the Fall of Shurima, and the Frozen Watcher, a series of enigmatic events and entities, and the imagery shows a constellation in the shape of a strange deity.
A lot of speculation
The last image and text provide some context and a vague hint of what's coming, and the crazy-popular MOBA's community is already speculating regarding the nature of the upcoming champion.
The story speaks of ancient constellations, hidden meanings, and points out the mask, a direct link to the mysterious champion, who for now bears the name of "Bard."
The fact, however, remains that nobody knows for sure, and developer Riot Games isn't saying anything, so all we can do is wait patiently until the official reveal, and maybe try to gank Teemo a couple more times in the interim.
The company usually takes its time with these reveals, as it often takes it a month or even longer to go from champion teaser to champion release.
