Various television shows, especially police dramas, have found inspiration for new storylines in some of the most controversial events in the real world, and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is no different.

The other day, the entire cast of the show, together with guest star Cybill Shepherd, hit the streets of New York to shoot scenes for an episode that will mirror the Trayvon Martin shooting.

Shepherd will be playing a female version of George Zimmerman, the guard who shot the unarmed teenager in 2012. He was acquitted of murder earlier this year.

The Daily Mail has more photos from the set.

Mehcad is the fictional Trayvon.

The episode will also star Jeffrey Tambor of “Arrested Development,” who plays the attorney for Shepherd’s character.

No word yet on when the episode will air.
