Indian company Lava Mobiles is back with yet another Android smartphone, the IRIS Pro 30+, which is the sequel to the IRIS Pro 30 that was released in the country earlier this year.

The mid-range smartphone will go on sale in India beginning August 26, AndroidOS reports. Lava IRIS Pro 30+ will only be available in black color option and it will sell exclusively via Amazon India.

Talking about the price, the IRIS Pro 30+ will be priced slightly higher than the previous model, as Lava has confirmed that the smartphone will be available for Rs 11,990 outright, which is about $195 or €150.

Although the Indian smartphone market is oversaturated with products that are launched every day, Lava hopes to stand out from the crowd with its own devices, and IRIS Pro 30+ does seem to have a striking resemblance with the iPhone.

According to the company, Lava IRIS Pro 30+ ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which an important downside. Most mid-range smartphone launched in India run KitKat, so the fact that Lava comes with a new device powered by such an old version of Android could be a real setback.

Hardware-wise, things are a bit different, as IRIS Pro 30+ has been confirmed to come equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, a PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Another strong point of the mid-range handset would be the 4.7-inch IPS OGS (full lamination) capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It’s also worth mentioning that the phone’s screen features Asahi Dragon-trail Glass protection.

Aside from that, Lava IRIS Pro 30+ also provides users with 16GB of internal memory, but only 5.5GB phone storage and 7.8GB for apps. The good news is that the smartphone packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), so owners should have enough storage space if they acquire a memory card.

Last but not least, Lava’s upcoming handset offers dual-SIM capability, dual cameras (13-megapixel rear camera, 3-megapixel secondary camera), 3G connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS support.

“We are pleased to take forward our proposition of ‘We put the Art in Smart’ for our Iris Pro series with the launch of Iris Pro 30+. Based on customer preferences backed by our research, we have introduced enhancements in camera, processor and internal memory to deliver an excellent experience to the customers,” said Navin Chawla, Vice President, Product, Lava International Ltd.
