Personal trainer speaks of all-body workout and diet

“The Hills” star Lauren Conrad has often been vocal about her passion for working out, saying in the past that she kept healthy and in shape with the help of kickboxing. Now, her personal trainer is revealing that she had just taken her training to a whole new level, something he likes to call the Body Box, as In Touch Weekly informs.

Jarret Del Bene, Lauren’s trainer, explains for the magazine that the focus when preparing for the summer and the beach is not on building muscle mass, but rather on keeping lean and fit. In this sense, the Body Box is ideal, a combination of cardio with exercises meant to make her stronger, as also is her balanced diet made of five to six small meals.

“It combines boxing with circuit training,” Del Bene says for the mag. To get in the best of shape for the many visits to the beach that are to come, the 23-year-old star does a boxing circuit that combines kickboxing and punching to build strength and improve her overall condition. For the lower body, Conrad does lunges and squats using her own body-weight, since the idea is to keep her lean and not build muscular legs, the trainer further explains.

“It’s really a full-body workout. Lauren doesn’t get bored because the high-intensity combos are always changing.” Del Bene says. Since the workouts are so challenging – and Conrad is already in good shape – the star does no more than two to four workout sessions a week. She also watches what she eats, sticking to a healthy diet that includes, as noted above, five to six small meals that do not cross the 1,200-1,500 calorie threshold.

Although some may argue that the calorie intake is just at the recommended limit (an adult needs 1,200 calories a day before the metabolism slows down, experts say), Del Bene vouches that Lauren is in the best shape ever, thanks to the diet and the workouts. “She got more intense with the workouts. And she’s leaned out and ready for summer!” the trainer concludes by saying.
