During Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), a three-day event taking place this week in Los Angeles, the leaders of gaming production will announce their upcoming projects (the next-generation game consoles) for the current year and the one to come, informs BBC Online.

As the new Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3 are expected to be released soon, Microsoft has already launched its Xbox 3 in December, hoping to boost profits until the challengers will take over part of Xbox's market share.

However, Sony still controls the console market with its PlayStation 2, as the company diminished the price for the famous console and sold, until now, more than 100 million units, compared to 24 million Xboxes and 21 million Nintendo GameCubes.

Upcoming games for consoles

Microsoft, Xbox's manufacturer, and Bungie, the producer of the first "Halo" game meant for Microsoft's console, have already announced that they will release a new version of the game - "Halo 3". Also, other Xbox 360's games are lining up for launching: "Gears of War", "Saint's Row Splinter Cell: Double Agent" and "Viva Pinata".

In addition, other console manufacturers, Nintendo and Sony, stated that their platforms will benefit from new applications as: "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" for GameCube, "WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2007" for PS3, Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP, and "Final Fantasy XII" for PS2.
