14 DAY TRIAL // A few weeks ago, UK-based lighting control systems and backgrounds manufacturer Lastolite posted a teaser photo on its Facebook page, announcing that, on February 5, it would reveal a new product.
The mystery was unraveled on the aforementioned date, when Lastolite revealed a new and innovative background support that uses strong neodymium magnets that allow you to easily grip collapsible backgrounds to any traditional lighting stand.
Thanks to the two magnetic connectors, the Magnetic Background Support (MBS) will securely hold the background, eliminating at the same time yaw and improving stability. The MBS will be available for purchase as a kit with a Lastolite lighting stand, or separately, depending on your needs.
The new Lastolite support is compatible with industry standard 5/8 spigot connectors, making it usable with most lighting stands currently on the market. The Lastolite Magnetic Background Support will be available for purchase in the US within a month or so. Pricing is yet to be announced.
