Currently, PwnedList has gathered credentials from 931 data leaks, totaling over 23 million email address and password combinations. Or course, this information could be highly valuable for LastPass and its customers.

As fate would have it, PwnedList started offering a new service called PwnedList End User Protection Service which is precisely what LastPass needs in order to properly protect its customers.

So, the two companies teamed up in order to ensure that users can benefit from a comprehensive security offering.

LastPass will constantly receive the latest information from PwnedList. By comparing its customers’ details to the data that shows up in data leaks, the company will be able to issue timely alerts to users whose accounts might become compromised.

“We are very happy to be working with LastPass. I have personally been a LastPass user for over a year now and believed our services were a natural complement. Once PwnedList knew we were going to be offering and end user protection service and data feed, I knew that LastPass would make a great partner for this service,” Steve Thomas, co-founder of PwnedList, told Softpedia.

“When we started talking with LastPass a few months ago about implementing this partnership, we were happy to hear that everyone at LastPass saw how powerful a solution combining credential management and credential monitoring could be.”

LastPass’ current customers seem to be happy about the company’s decision to contract the services of PwnedList.

“LastPass already helps us to better control and protect our digital assets. With this new feature, our administrators and employees will know immediately if any company passwords have been compromised, allowing us to update them within seconds,” Matthew Wittkin, director of Technology Integration at MoreVisibility, explained.

“We hope nothing like this will ever come to pass, but it gives me extra peace of mind knowing that, with LastPass, I’ll be the first to know!”

Starting today, any organization can sign up for PwnedList’s End User Protection Service which provides their database of stolen credentials to companies that offer their services to end users. With the massive database at hand, providers can identify which of their customers are most likely to become the victims of account hijacking and other types of fraud.
