The first Metro video game, created by 4A Games, was one of the surprise hits of 2010, with its mix of dark atmosphere, surprising story and solid shooting mechanics, and the team now working on the Last Light sequel says that it will create a more solid experience and deliver a true masterpiece.

Speaking to Gamespot Mark Madsen, who is a global brand manager at THQ, has said that the team working on Metro: Last Light has seen the feedback and that, “There were some issues with the stealth, our enemy AI, sometimes the weapons didn’t feel quite right, the ammunition as currency wasn’t clearly explained to everyone.”

He added, “That – and then some – has all been taken into account, and we’re going down line by line and addressing it and making sure that when Metro: Last Light does ship, it isn’t considered a flawed masterpiece.”

Madsen has also talked about the way 4A Games is working on totally eliminating the Heads Up Display, trying to make the player immerse himself in the game and get all the information he needs from the environment.

Metro: Last Light will offer the option of using the HUD for those players who like it and want to always be clear on their status but will encourage daring gamers to use the minimalist interface.

The game started life as Metro 2034 and will allow gamers to explore more of the surface world, as the ravages of nuclear war diminish.

As always, the nucleus of the story will be on the way the various human factions confront each other in order to dominate the limited resources available in the post nuclear world.

Metro: Last Light will be released during 2012 on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PC and the new Nintendo Wii U.
