14 DAY TRIAL // In May this year, after a couple of very troubled weeks, when the 14-year-old marriage of Larry King and Shawn Southwick seemed to breathe its final breaths, the two announced they were no longer getting a divorce. In light of Shawn’s (more or less) accidental OD, TMZ has learned that the two have never really withdrawn the divorce papers – and it may all bottle down to money.
Late last week, word got out in the media that Shawn had accidentally OD’ed on prescription drugs after she and Larry had called off the divorce. Though her father, who found her, claimed that his daughter was not suicidal, buzz began that perhaps things between the two were not as rosy as the media was led to believe. Sources are now telling TMZ that King is waiting for his wife to recover from the overdose to talk money with her and presumably go on with the divorce proceedings.
“Larry King and wife Shawn King have not withdrawn their divorce petitions... and we’re told the tipping point is money. People familiar with the situation tell us nothing is going to happen while Shawn recovers from what may have been a suicide attempt. But before that crisis, we’re told one of Larry's lawyers presented a proposal to Shawn’s lawyer to undo an agreement he signed several years ago... in which he signed over all 3 of their houses to her,” TMZ informs.
Apparently, handing over the houses was King’s way of “apologizing” for having an affair with his wife’s sister. “Larry signed the document after Shawn accused him of sleeping with her sister. And, we’re told, one of Larry’s lawyers – not Dennis Wasser – submitted a proposal for a new division of property that did not sit well with Shawn. As one source says, ‘It will come down to striking a deal on the money issues’,” TMZ explains, citing well-placed inside sources.
As we also informed you a short while ago, while Shawn’s father insisted that she was not suicidal but only confused for taking so many pills for her depression and anxiety, police reports suggest she even wrote a suicide letter before taking the pills. Her impending divorce from King, even if the story never made it to press, and his affair reportedly pushed her on the brink of desperation.
