Sony Ericsson and Square Enix teamed up to offer Xperia PLAY owners some of the most popular game titles.

“Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light” will be one of the first Android games exclusively available on Xperia PLAY beginning November 2011.

More hits developed by Square Enix will be launched aftwarewards, Sony Ericsson claims, but no names have been given yet.

The announcement is part of a major larger campaign focused on adding more than 150 optimized titles on the Xperia PLAY smartphone.

With a unique control pad and immersive graphics that enable an enriched gaming experience, Xperia PLAY is bringing a unique and exciting dimension to smartphone gaming. This is just the start of what we plan to do together, but right now, we are delighted to be able to show off the full potential of our games with this innovative smartphone, bringing them to life as our creators intended,” said Ben Cusack, Head of Mobile for Square Enix Europe.

Square Enix adds to the list of well renown Sony Ericsson partners, such as CAPCOM and Gameloft, which already confirmed that some of their game will be exclusively available in Xperia PLAY.

Xperia PLAY continues to redefine smartphone gaming. By bringing some of the world's most popular console games to the Xperia PLAY we're delivering an unrivalled smartphone gaming experience,” said Tim Harrison, Head of Content & Marketing Strategy for Sony Ericsson.

Unveiled early this year, Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is slowly pushed in more markets around the world.

The Android smartphone was recently made available in the United States and is expected to be launched in Japan via NTT DoCoMo next month.

On related news, Sony Ericsson announced last week a similar partnership with Tozai Games to bring the Loade Runner X title on Xperia PLAY in November.
