Plus-size retailer Lane Bryant has found the perfect way to deliver a powerful message to their female customers, while also promoting their latest lingerie line Cacique. World, meet the #ImNoAngel campaign.

The campaign will include TV spots and print that will be posted on billboards and published in magazines, and will serve to tell women that they are beautiful no matter the size, as long as they have confidence.

#ImNoAngel is already a hit

You can see one of the TV spots in the first Instagram embed below: it features famous plus-size models Ashley Graham, Marquita Pring, Candice Huffine, Victoria Lee, Justine Legault and Elly Mayday, laughing at the camera and looking their best in gorgeous lingerie.

If you get the impression that there’s something very familiar about it, that’s probably because it seems to mirror a controversial (and very recent) Victoria’s Secret ad, which had the famous Angels grouped together, with the caption “The Perfect Body.”

Even the tagline #ImNoAngel is seen as a subtle jab at the rival lingerie company, which, truth be told, has often been accused of imposing unrealistic views of female “perfection” on regular Janes and Joes.

If that was the intention behind the campaign, mission accomplished: not only is Lane Bryan basking in lots of attention online, but it’s managed to become inspiration for thousands of women from all over the world.

That’s because they urged them to post their own beautiful poses under the hashtag #ImNoAngel and thus show that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Empowering women to love themselves

According to Lane Bryan, #ImNoAngel is more than a promo campaign: it’s more like a PSA meant to help women understand that beauty isn’t what the media tells them it is. Beauty is diverse, but the media would have them believe otherwise, equating skinny (and tall) with “perfection.”

This new campaign should prove them different. Their own photos should convince them that this isn’t true.

“Our #ImNoAngel campaign is designed to empower ALL women to love every part of herself,” Lane Bryant CEO and President Linda Heasley says in a statement. “Lane Bryant firmly believes that she is sexy and we want to encourage her to confidently show it, in her own way.”

And what better way to dress this kind of confidence that comes with embracing your figure, curves and all, than with Cacique lingerie?
