Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian are still married, even though she filed the divorce papers in December 2013. While there are serious indications that they might still work it out and stay together, coming from Lamar himself mostly, he will never again appear on the family’s reality show on E!, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

He’s already been asked and offered a great deal of money in exchange, but his first brush with reality TV has made him understand that’s not a direction he wants to go in, InTouch reports.

“They ruined my life”

Citing sources close to the former NBA star, who is now at the lowest point in his career and in his personal life (allegedly), the celebrity publication says Lamar was offered $1 million (€888,099) to come back to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

For this kind of money, chances are he didn’t even have to be a regular but only make a few appearances. He turned the offer down, telling a friend, “They ruined my life” by means of an explanation.

Ironically, the insider continues, Lamar could really use that money now, which goes to show just how broken he was by the Kardashian “curse,” as some sports analysts have called it. Being on a reality show chipped away at his reputation and credibility as an athlete, which may have played a part in his becoming addicted to drugs.

“He disappears regularly and is basically homeless. His friends are worried that he will never get his act together,” explains the source.

The whirlwind romance and the high price Lamar paid for it

Khloe and Lamar met in 2009 and married after a very short and highly publicized courtship. Obviously, the wedding was featured on the reality show, just like everything else involving Lamar would be as well from that point on.

The two became such a hit with the audiences that they even got their own spinoff show, documenting life as newlyweds and the challenges of living on the road.

Again, the audiences loved it, but everybody else didn’t. At the time, the Kardashians weren’t considered “role models” or even actual celebrities; remember, this was happening at a time when being a reality star was worse than being a C-list actress or musician… because that’s what C-listers did when they ran out of options, they turned to reality television.

So having a promising NBA star dating one, doing media rounds with her and even appearing on a reality show, was equated with a desperate attempt on his part to cling to his former good reputation to make money.

Lamar was pretty much disowned by the sports industry, celebrity blogs and many supporters. No wonder he would never do reality television again after being this badly burned, even assuming he does manage to get Khloe back.
