Royal aides hope singer will tone it down a bit

One of the hottest artists of the moment, the controversial and eccentric Lady Gaga, has just been booked to perform for the Queen of England during an upcoming annual event, the Telegraph informs. Given Gaga’s known penchant for anything that’s shocking, the royal aides are hoping that she will tone down her performance a bit so as not to offend, insider sources say for the same publication.

Gaga is not named Gaga for nothing, one might say. With her, there are few to no limits when it comes to performing live, which would explain her more recent gigs. In one, for instance, she finished up her song covered in blood and hanging from the ceiling in what was to be a make-believe suicide by hanging, as we also reported. Another appearance saw the singer dressed in a futuristic gown, which also included spinning orbs that she kept in motion by slightly moving her body.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder royal aides are said to be praying Gaga understands the nature of the event she’s been asked to sing at and tones down her art a few notches. “The 23-year-old hellraiser is an unusual choice for the event which has traditionally featured artists from light entertainment such as Bruce Forsyth, Nat King Cole, Cliff Richard and Katherine Jenkins. […] She is best known for her outrageous outfits and performances, such as at New York Fashion Week, when she wore a see-through red lace bodysuit and g-string,” the Telegraph writes.

Moreover, sources with the palace are telling the British tabs that Gaga will also get to meet the Queen herself, in which case it would be a good idea if she had pants on for once. “I really don’t know if the Queen or Prince Philip have listened to Lady Gaga, or are familiar with her. But the Royal Variety Performance is a well-known charitable event which they support and they meet all the stars involved,” an unnamed but reportedly very reliable source explains.

The annual Royal Variety Performance will take place on December 7 at Blackpool’s Opera House. Comedian Peter Kay will act as host, while other performances will include Mika, Alexandra Burke and Michael Buble.
