14 DAY TRIAL // He has repeatedly spoken his mind on countless topics and was met with nothing but disapproval or even ridicule but, this time, rapper Kanye West seems to have hit the nail right on the head. In a recent post on his personal blog, Kanye gave his fans a piece of his mind on the music icons of tomorrow, and urged the media to begin treating them like it.
Starting off from a paparazzi shot of Rihanna out and about town, Kanye initially says that it’s a wonder how some paps still know how to take quality snaps, even when they rush to get more for more money. As usual, the rapper changes topic midway and begins to say that Lady Gaga is the new Madonna, while Justin Timberlake is the new Michael Jackson, and they should be treated as such. Moreover, Kanye believes, it wouldn’t hurt the paps to act more respectfully when in the presence of such great stars.
“YO WHY CAN'T ALL PAPARAZZI PHOTOS BE THIS GOOD? WELL OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE MOST CELEBS JUST AREN’T RIHANNA LOL! ... BUT ON THE REAL, THIS PIC IS HARDCORE. PEEP THE PERSPECTIVE SHOT OF THE CITY IN THE BACK. SOMETIMES THE PAPS OVEREXPOSE THE LENS OR HAVE THE FLASH TOO HIGH TAKING ALL THE EMOTION OUT OF THE MOMENT. THIS MOMENT IS CAPTURED IN TIME NOW.” Kanye begins by saying. As fans must already be aware of this fact, the rapper is famous for his obstinacy of always writing in caps, despite being told several times that his posts look like he’s screaming.
Moving on to the question of tomorrow’s music icons, Kanye says, “I LOOK AT OUR CURRENT SUPERSTARS LIKE LEGENDS IN THE MAKING... LIKE JUSTIN IS THE NEW MIKE , BEYONCE’S THE NEW TINA TURNER, GAGA’S MADONNA, JAY IS SINATRA... WAYNE IS HENDRIX, THOM YORKE IS ROGER WATERS, THESE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND SHOULD BE DOCUMENTED AS SUCH. THAT SAID, IT WOULD BE DOPE IF THE PAPS OPERATED WITH THE SAME INTEGRITY AND ATTENTION TO THEIR CRAFT AS THE LEGENDS THEY PHOTOGRAPH..... GOOD JOB ON THIS ONE!”
Of course, Kanye West is not the first one to say that Lady Gaga is showing all the right signs that she’s the next “Material Girl,” a comparison that has been standing ever since she broke in the spotlight and people noticed certain resemblances between her outfits and dance routines and those of the Queen of Pop. At the same time, Timberlake has often been compared to a modern version of Michael Jackson, so maybe all West is doing is just stating the obvious, it has been said.
